93 - 95 Points - Robert M Parker "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley spends 18 months in a combination of 30% new and 70% used French and American barrels. It is another big boy at 15.4% natural alcohol. This wine, which was not yet in bottle, is fabulous, and there are 42,000 cases of it. One of the strongest efforts yet from the Martinis, this cuvée still sells at a modest $38.00 – a fair price for something this compelling. The wine has an opaque purple color, a beautiful nose of blueberries, blackcurrants, licorice, camphor and graphite. The wine is full-bodied and multilayered on the palate with sensational richness and length. It should drink well for 20-25 years."

Winemaker - "Machine picked and destemmed to open fermenters where it was inoculated with selected yeast strains and fermented warm (peaking at around 24C) over 5 to 7 days. During this time the ferment was hand pumped over (by actual humans) twice a day for 45 minutes each time. It was then drained and pressed to tank to ferment to dryness. Malolactic fermentation was completed in thick staved French Oak puncheons (40% new) with maturation for 30 months. A further 20 months in bottle saw them finally ready for release.
Deep red in colour, the nose is distinctly Cabernet-like with mulberry and blackberry fruit and hints of mint backed by French oak, pencil shavings, and wisps of violet. Juicy red berries on the palate are surrounded by velvety tannins, tobacco and spice notes. A long tannin/acid profile to finish is indicative of this wine’s aging potential."

Robert M Parker "An absolutely outrageous wine and probably one of the great all-time Cabernet Sauvignons from Sonoma is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Rosso Vineyard Sonoma Valley. This is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the relatively recent Moon Mountain AVA, that aged for 27 months in 67% new French and 14 % new American oak. This is a wine of thrilling levels of intensity, with an incredible fragrance of spring flowers, blue fruits, black fruits, especially crème de cassis and blackberry, loamy soil undertones, and a touch of licorice and smoke. The wine is full-bodied, with magnificent fruit intensity and purity, loads of glycerin (15.5% alcohol) and a finish of a good 40+ seconds. This is a great bottle of wine that can still be purchased for less than $100.00, which is increasingly rare in Northern California."
