Château Calon-Segur, set in the appellation of Saint-Estèphe, is a Third Classified Growth and is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc region, meaning it has a rich history. The Marquis de Ségur (then owner of several other estates including Lafite and Latour- hence why he was aptly named the "Prince of Vines") acquired Château Calon-Segur through marriage. Despite owning all these other Châteaux, the Marquis de Ségur stated "My heart belongs to Calon" and this is the reason that the bottle we see today has a heart shape around the name ‘Calon Segur’. The Château grows vines split between 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. The annual production for Calon Segur is around 80,000 bottles and the Château does have as second wine called Marquis de Calon and a third wine called La Chapelle de Calon.
