Situated in the South of the Barsac appellation in Bordeaux, Château Climens is one of the most famous Barsac wines and was granted First Growth status in 1855. It is known as “Lord of Barsac” and produces some of the greatest sweet wines in Bordeaux. The vineyards are 100% Sémillon grapes, which thrive in the gravel and clay soil of the Graves region. The history of Château Climens dates back to the 16th century and has only had 5 owners since this time. In 1971 the château was bought by Lucien Lurton, until 1992 when his youngest daughter Bérénice took over the management of the estate. Château Climens also produces a second wine, Cypres de Climens.
