Domaine Naturaliste - Château Pavie Macquin

Château Pavie Macquin sits in the appellation of St. Emilion, close to the vineyards of Pavie, Pavie-Decesse and Troplong-Mondot. The name comes from Albert Macquin who was known for helping to solve the phylloxera epidemic, as his vines at Pavie Macquin were among the first to be grafted onto American rootstocks. The property is owned today by the Corre Family, who are descended from Albert Macquin.  In 1990, consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt was taken on board by the Pavie Macquin team and in 1998 the success of the château began to change. The estate is managed by Nicholas Thienpoint (who owns Château Troplong Mondot and Château Vieux Certan). The 2005 vintage is the best vintage to date, scoring 96+ Points from Robert Parker.  The château also produces a second wine named Les Chênes de Macquin.
