Emmerich Knoll Ried Loibenberg Smaragd Riesling 2012

£35.50 per bottle

Sumptuous nose combines apricot, lime zest, acacia honey and wet stone. Juicy, sweet peach fruit is elegantly carried by a subtle spine of acidity. Mineral and orange components linger on the firm, long finish. Already approachable, but will continue to develop for years.

Emmerich Knoll

The Wachau region is situated in Lower Austria, 80 kilometres West of Vienna, Austria’s capital. Its wine making history dates back as far as the Roman settlements in the medieval times. Along the banks of the River Danube, vines enjoy the steep and stony soil conditions, with maximum exposure to the sun. This creates some of Austria’s most popular fine wines, including Riesling and Grüner Veltliner. The most famous and one of the largest vineyards is Domaine Wachau, which is situated just outside of the walls of the city of Dürnstein. With around 440 hectares of vineyards, this vineyard produces approximately 30% of the region’s wine.
