Kevin Judd is the man behind the Greywacke label – named in recognition of the high number of rounded Greywacke river stones found in the soils of the vineyard. He registered the name back in 1993 whilst working as chief winemaker at Cloudy Bay, with the vague notion that one day he might use it on a wine label of his own. This notion became a reality in 2009 when he established his own label and produced his first wine – the Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc which displayed Kevin’s famed style. The wines are made by Kevin at the Dog Point Winery in Marlborough where he has a close relationship with long-standing friends and industry colleagues, Ivan Sutherland and James Healy. His range now includes a Wild Sauvignon Blanc, a Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as well as limited releases of Pinot Gris, Riesling and Gewurztraminer, all of which show his vast experience and incredible passion.
