Jeffrey Grosset of Grosset Wines was an oenology student who spent many years working in the wine industry before establishing his own winery; Grosset Wines back in 1981. He has since been making some of Australia's best Riesling and won the accolade of ‘Riesling Winemaker of the Year’ in Hamburg, Germany in 1998 which, alongside his Polish Hill Riesling being rated exceptional in the Langton’s Classification (a feat only managed by 2 other white wines) makes this winemaker something pretty special. The winery is based in a picturesque old butter and ice factory in the southern tip of the Clare Valley, just north of Adelaide.
The philosophy of Grosset Wines is based around the purity of the fruit; the certified organic vineyards are handpicked only when at optimum ripeness and the winemaking process is both simple and gentle with the aim of preserving the wines character and individuality.
Their purity, precision and consistently outstanding quality have made Grosset wines what they are today – among the World’s finest examples of Riesling.
