94++ - 95 Stuart McCloskey “A multi-regional blend from McLaren Vale, Pyrenees and Clare Valley. The bouquet delivers some real umph and flows with a very long list, extending from a tart cranberry / redcurrant vibe to plum, dark chocolate, fresh rosemary come bay leaf – there’s a notable herbal flow running throughout the bouquet. The palate changes tact and delivers gentle waves of ripe, red and black fruits. More dark (fruity) chocolate unfolds gracefully which is admirable – I like the gentle grip from the tannins. This one has the ability to age a decade and will be flourishing in 3-5 years. Faultless winemaking and lots of potential for the money. Impressive. Decant for 2-3 hours. Served using Zalto Bordeaux glassware.”
96 Points – Magdalena Sienkiewicz "Heritage Reserve Bin D680 blends fruit from McLaren Vale, Pyrenees and Clare Valley. Straight away, you notice a highly distinctive perfume which brings a wonderful medley of black fruit, chocolate, truffle and tar. There is a gentle herbal lift which must be the cool-climate fruit element. The palate bursts to life with vibrant fruit and a beautifully round texture. The finish is superb, filled with those wonderful chocolate notes. The HRB Shiraz exceeded my expectations and I can see this being a great treat and one which requires no excuse to open. Great quality and even better value. You can keep it if you can resist it. Sampled three hours after decanting using Zalto Bordeaux glassware."
Bin D680. A flush of musky, resiny, creamy oak marks this as ambitious from the start. The fruit beneath has both a fleshiness and a friskiness, its bright plum and red licorice flavours freshened further by a splash of mint. Hard to argue with its quality.
Zalto Denk-Art Universal Glass
Due to further lockdowns in Austria we are experiencing extended delays with our Zalto orders.
We are currently expecting our next delivery to arrive July/August 2021.
The Zalto Universal glass is recommended for richer, oaked Sauvignon Blancs such as Hughes & Hughes Barrel & Skins, white Graves or Semillon/Sauvignon blends as well as young and non-vintage Champagne. The Zalto Universal is a very good 'all-rounder', designed for all types of wine but in our opinion may not maximize the potential of certain wines quite as much as the Bordeaux or Burgundy glass.
Hardys is a name that has been intrinsically entwined with Australian wine for over a century and a half. Thomas Hardy is generally regarded as the fathers of the South Australian wine industry and was one of the early pioneers of McLaren Vale wine, planting some of the earliest vines in region dating back to the mid 1800’s. Since those early plantings, the company has continued to grow through several generations of the family. The widow of Tom Mayfield Hardy, Eileen Hardy, who took up the mantle for a considerable part of the 21st century is a name very familiar to us through their flagship range of wines name Eileen Hardy, featuring a Chardonnay, a Pinot Noir and Shiraz, the 2015’s we are exclusive on. One of our favourite wines which simply blew us away is the Eileen Hardy Chardonnay 2015 which Steven Spurrier described as the "Grange of Australian white wines".
