This deeply coloured Syrah from the renowned Gimblett Gravels expresses aromas of dark red fruits, black pepper, spices and florals. Showing good fruit intensity, depth of flavour and length this wine is well balanced and supported by fine approachable tannins.
James Halliday "A blend of sousao, graciano, touriga national, tinta cao and tempranillo, a blend to end all blends in this idiom. The clear, bright colour leads into the fragrant berry and spice aromas of the bouquet; the next step is the medium-bodied palate, most impressive is the way the silky tannins have been handled."
James Halliday "Some colour development, but not much; cigar box and spice nuances to the bouquet, then some bottle-developed complexity, moving the black cherry fruit towards the sour cherry; has overall balance; less than 500 dozen made."
A significant step up in quality compared to the ‘Estate’ wine – The nose has an intense and irresistible aroma of passion fruit and a whole array of ripe tropical fruit. The palate is equally intense on the entry and immediately expresses those ripe tropical fruits found on the nose. This is a fantastic wine from Vidal that rivals many ‘top’ Kiwi Sauvignon Blancs. Just delicious – no more, no less...
Bob Campbell "Pungent, flavoursome sauvignon blanc with classic passionfruit, capsicum, pink grapefruit and citrus flavours. A good example of the Marlborough style, with appealing punchy varietal character."
Winemaker "Intense passionfruit aromas combine with tropical fruit flavours, as well as some herbal notes apparent in the background. A classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc that is fresh, pure and long on the palate. This wine reflects premium vineyard sites within the Wairau and Awatere Valleys."
94 Points - Bob Campbell "The first Bilancia Chardonnay I have tasted. Fruit from La Collina vineyard and Bridge Pa Triangle. Indigenous yeast and 15 months in oak without fining or cold stabilisation. Attractive, elegant chardonnay with tight citrus, mineral, struck flint and savoury yeast lees and spicy oak flavours. A classy chardonnay with development potential."

98 Points - Bob Campbell "Very impressive Gimblett Gravels Cabernet Sauvignon with textbook varietal flavours of cedar/cigar box, cassis plus a subtle hint of fresh herbs and with a seasoning of very classy oak. This is a flagship wine that thoroughly justifies its exalted status. Should develop magnificently with bottle age." - Bob Campbell

This dense, rich and quite complex red is a top example from a top vintage. Warm, generous wine with ripe berry fruits, spice, tobacco leaf and a hint of chocolate/mocha character. Deliciously accessible now but with the power and density to develop well.

Dense and powerful Syrah with impressively rich flavours of chocolate, plum/dark berry, liquorice, cracked black pepper and spicy oak. I rate it slightly ahead of the more structured and highly celebrated wine from the 2013 vintage and I believe it will cellar at least as well despite being more accessible now.

"Is this perfection? No, it is better than that, if that is possible. The wine is perfectly formed and composed, and is very proper, but it offers more. Exceptional concentration, brilliant structure, impressive fruit purity and layers of delicious flavours with seamless mouthfeel make this stunning wine thought-provoking and sensually awe-inspiring.
