Fox Creek Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 (Case 6x75cl)

McLaren Vale
30 in stock

Firm, with pretty blueberry and currant flavors at the core and dusky herb and cedar notes weaving through the mildly chewy finish.

The Fox Creek winery was created by a small group of doctors and their wives who wanted to pursue a lifelong passion of creating wine from bare earth and sunshine. The 32 hectare vineyard in McLaren Vale was purchased in 1984 by Jim and Helen Watts who planted and nurtured young vines in the black clay soils that were previously used for growing barley. Although they were advised against this, the vines bore some incredibly high quality fruit which in turn was used to produce incredibly high quality wine.

Although the vineyard is not certified organic, sustainable vineyard practices are used and chemicals or other artificial agents are avoided. They also devote time to planting indigenous plants and trees around the vineyard which provide food and shelter for their native birds, which make for excellent pest control!

Fox Creek

McLaren Vale is situated south of The Barossa Valley in South Eastern Australia. The local climates vary enormously according to altitude and exposure to the cooling sea breezes. Red grapes flourish here due to the warm climate and varied soil type and the region is best known for soft and juicy Shiraz, old-vine Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The climate is similar to that of the Mediterranean climate with four clear seasons. We can highly recommend the producers Kay Brothers, Clarendon Hills and Shirvington Estate from whom we have some fantastic wines.
