Louis Jadot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2015 (Case 6x75cl)

The 2015 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has a voluminous and extravagant bouquet with blooms of red berry fruit, although I found myself more drawn to the complex and intellectual Clos Saint-Denis. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin. This is a masculine, assertive Clos de la Roche, quite saline in the mouth with a feisty, spicy finish. This is a fine grand cru from Louis Jadot, though not one of their top releases this vintage.

Zalto Denk-Art Universal Glass

Due to further lockdowns in Austria we are experiencing extended delays with our Zalto orders.

We are currently expecting our next delivery to arrive at the end of February.

The Zalto Universal glass is recommended for richer, oaked Sauvignon Blancs such as Hughes & Hughes Barrel & Skins, white Graves or Semillon/Sauvignon blends as well as young and non-vintage Champagne. The Zalto Universal is a very good 'all-rounder', designed for all types of wine but in our opinion may not maximize the potential of certain wines quite as much as the Bordeaux or Burgundy glass.

Louis Jadot, Burgundy, France

Burgundy is a highly respected wine region based in Eastern France and is world renowned for its dry white wines made from Chardonnay grapes and dry red wines from Pinot Noir grapes. It has a higher number of AOC’s (appellations d’origine controlee) than any other French region and the classifications of wine vary hugely from Grand Cru vineyards down to more non-specific regional appellations. Burgundy has 5 main wine-growing areas; Chablis, Cotes de Nuits, Cotes de Beaune, Maconnais and Cote Chalonnaise and is home to some of the most expensive wines in the world, including those of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, Domaine Leflaive and Domaine Leroy. Wine production in Burgundy operates in 3 ways; through negociants who buy the grapes or wines from smaller producers and sell it on under their own name, via co-operatives (groups of grape-growers) who pool resources to establish a winery for use by all involved or finally by producers who own both vineyards and a winery. The third is more unusual purely due to the costs involved in building and maintaining such an operation. We have a couple of excellent examples of wines from this region – the Nuits St Georges from Clos de la Marechale 2008 and the Domaine Pillot St Aubin 2011 which show both grape varietals at their very best.
