The 2006 Cambrian Shiraz spent 18 months in 50% new French oak. Purple-colored, it reveals an alluring nose of wood smoke, leather, violets, mineral, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. Full-bodied and structured on the palate, it should evolve for another 5-7 years. It has tons of spicy blue and black fruits, excellent balance, a lengthy finish, and should be at its best from 2013 to 2026.

The original vineyard was established by Bill Hepburn in the early 1990's consisting of 10 acres of low cropping vines. It was a modest start, with borrowed equipment, friendly neighbours and supportive family. Bill spent those early years camped in a caravan, not far from a large gum tree under which he built a ‘thunderbox’ (thus the inspiration for Tatiarra’s flagship wine, the Caravan of Dreams). However, the long cold nights finally got to Bill and he decided it was time to pass the dream on...
Situated due North of Australia’s capital, Melbourne, the Heathcote region sits nestled between the Goulburn Valley and Bendigo region, in Central Victoria. Wine from this region stands out due to the perfect combination of warm climates and cool, southerly winds mixed with its ancient rich, red Cambrian soil. The region has become renowned in recent years for its Shiraz, which tends to be complex yet well-balanced. As well as Shiraz, the other red varieties such as Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon do well here, with whites such as Viognier and Chardonnay becoming increasing popular. From the Heathcote region, we have a selection of wine from two of its best wineries, Wild Duck Creek and Tatiarra.
