Maury Solera

Made by Gerard Gauby in the upper Agly Valley in Roussillon, this is a fascinating and historic wine made by using a Solera system which started in 1928 and has been topped up regularly ever since, from the wines of a selected vintage. Jancis Robinson has been quoted as saying 'this must be the finest-co-op wine in the world, and one of the best-value French wines available anywhere'. These rich, sticky wines are what the area has traditionally produced; from Grenache grapes sun-shrivelled on the bushvines around Maury. They are perfect to sip at the end of a meal with a dessert of cheese or chocolate.
