91 Points - Robert Parker

The 2007 Shiraz spent 18 months in 2-3 year old French oak. It has an expressive nose of spice box, espresso, incense, and assorted black fruits. Smooth-textured and succulent on the palate, this layered Shiraz is impeccably balanced and lengthy.

91 Points - Josh Reynolds

Glass-staining ruby. Spicy black cherry, cassis and licorice on the mineral-driven nose. Pliant and seductively juicy, offering energetic red and dark berry flavors and a deeper undercurrent of candied licorice. Nicely tactile wine, with strong finishing persistence and fine dusty tannins.

Region

McLaren Vale is situated south of The Barossa Valley in South Eastern Australia. The local climates vary enormously according to altitude and exposure to the cooling sea breezes. Red grapes flourish here due to the warm climate and varied soil type and the region is best known for soft and juicy Shiraz, old-vine Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The climate is similar to that of the Mediterranean climate with four clear seasons. We can highly recommend the producers Kay Brothers, Clarendon Hills and Shirvington Estate from whom we have some fantastic wines.
