James Halliday "A blend of sousao, graciano, touriga national, tinta cao and tempranillo, a blend to end all blends in this idiom. The clear, bright colour leads into the fragrant berry and spice aromas of the bouquet; the next step is the medium-bodied palate, most impressive is the way the silky tannins have been handled."
James Halliday "Some colour development, but not much; cigar box and spice nuances to the bouquet, then some bottle-developed complexity, moving the black cherry fruit towards the sour cherry; has overall balance; less than 500 dozen made."

"Matured for 18 months in new and used French oak. Excellent colour; the wine has a fragrant dark berry bouquet, the palate sheer perfection. So well balanced it seems suspended in the air, cassis fruit supported by feather-light tannins, oak an absorbed spectator. This is a beautiful wine."
2015 Old Block is beautifully balanced and elegant. It opens with a fine fruit burst followed by a dense dark fruit core and a long even finish. The tannins are fine and polished, folding into layer after layer of flavour. It is an elegant wine with great complexity that will further unfold over time.
The Vintage: The 2014-2015 growing season began with good early winter rains followed by a dry, late winter and spring. Spring was warmer than average resulting early budburst and flowering. Summer days were mild with no extended heat waves, resulting in even ripening. Yields were below average, but produced exceptional quality. 2015 Eden Valley Shiraz is truly sensational with near perfect growing conditions resulting in sensational wines. The 2015 vintage Barossa Valley Shiraz displays both richness and depth, underpinned by dark lingering tannins.
97+ Points - Stuart McCloskey “The wine demands some aeration and reveals a crystalline, mineral-driven bouquet with nashi pear, white flowers, oatmeal and a whiff of smoky sulphide. The palate is certainly complex with flavours ranging from stonefruit, lemon peel and touches of anise. Concentrated but at the same time supremely measured and seamless. The palate offers a lovely glossy texture and is incredibly satisfying. Flavours expand from citrus notes, limestone, smoked almond to more oatmeal. Everything is kept in check with a healthy wash of acidity. A wine of immense potential and will only improve with more cellaring (3-8 years). I love this. Served using Zalto Bordeaux glassware”. 97 Points - James Halliday "Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, cloudy juice wild-fermented in French oak (40% new), matured for 12 months. It's exceptionally fresh and pure, white peach and nectarine at its core. Roasted cashew and citrussy acidity dance around the core, creating a very long and crisp finish."
94 Points - James Halliday "Promotes itself (on the back label) as rich with butterscotch and French oak but it's more refined than it makes out. Better to over- than under-deliver in this regard. It's slightly backward and enclosed but there's power here, coiled, green melon and white peach, oatmeal and toasty oak keeping a close eye. It will venture out in its own sweet time."
96 Points - James Halliday "A single vineyard planted in '78. 55% new oak for 14 months. Redcurrant, blackberry, violets and bay leaf bouquet; characters of cedar and chocolate on the palate are oak-derived, but sit seamlessly within the wine as well. The fruit and the tannin filling the mouth expansively."
97 Points - James Halliday "A full-bodied wine of remarkable intensity, filling every crevice of the mouth with a pure stream of cassis and mulberry fruit, oak and tannins dutifully lending support, but remaining in their place, simply reinforcing the inherent elegance of the wine."
93-94 Points - James Suckling "Powerful and structured with lots of blueberry, blackberry and currant character. Full-bodied, tight and tannic yet polished and beautiful. Fantastic. Juicy."
92 Points - Neal Martin "The 2016 Les Ormes de Pez has a tightly wound, graphite-scented bouquet that needs a little coaxing from the glass but eventually reveals discreet minerally scents mixed with sous-bois. The palate is medium-bodied with quite succulent tannin, and certainly more approachable than the Les Ormes de Pez of the past, delivering gentle grip toward the tarry finish. This is a finely crafted Saint-Estèphe from team Cazes."
93 Points - James Suckling "Very pretty fruit with dark berries, plums and currants. Hints of sweet tobacco. Medium bodied, firm and silky. Lovely, juicy finish with delicious acidity at the end. The 18 per cent of fabulous cabernet franc in this makes it special. Hard not to drink now, but better in 2023."
92 Points - Neal Martin "The 2016 Capbern from the Calon-Ségur team, matured in 50-60% new oak, has a wonderful bouquet of blackberry, pencil lead and light floral aromas that leap out of the glass. The beautifully balanced palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, leading to a supple, smooth but complex graphite finish. This is a superb Capbern, easily the best ever made."
