DuMOL: Loved By The Queen Mother and Presidents Bush & Obama

If it's good enough for the Queen Mother and the Presidents of the USA, then it's certainly good enough for you!

Proudly Introducing DuMOL Wines

  • Rarely ever seen by the bottle in the UK...
  • For more than 10 years, DuMOL wines have regularly been served at various events in The White House – they have been poured for the Queen Mother and the highest representatives of many nations, including President Bush and President Obama.
  • The story began in 1996 with their first release of a miniscule 300 cases; equal numbers of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Even today, the production levels remain low (only 445 cases of the 2012 Aidan Pinot Noir).
  • Today, DuMOL owns three distinct vineyards for its estate production, but also sources externally from many long established premier growers like Dutton Ranch, Larry Hyde & Sons Vineyard, and Charles Heintz Vineyard.
  • Robert Parker“I would have to rank DuMol as one of my favorite half dozen producers of California Chardonnay as well as one of the top twenty in terms of Pinot Noir. Moreover, their Syrah program is also impressive”
  • Andy Smith is a talented winemaker and viticulturist at the helm since 2000. Before his tenure at DuMOL, Smith studied under Neil McCallum (Dry River in Martinborough), Ted Lemon (Littorai) and Paul Hobbs, all distinguished winemakers of great repute.
  • DuMOL Estate Vineyards are sustainably farmed absent of any pesticides or harmful chemicals. Several organic and biodynamic methods are also applied and the winery is 100% solar powered.

Dumol 2013 Chardonnay Chloe

2013 Chardonnay Chloe

96 Points – Robert Parker

The 2013 Chardonnay Chloe, which comes from two great vineyard sources, the Ritchie and Lorenzo, was treated similarly in terms of its aging, 12 months on its lees, then four months in tank. Good acidity buttresses a relatively full-throttle, big, rich, honeyed wine, with plenty of apple blossom, orange marmalade, and pineapple notes. There is some underlying minerality as well. This should also drink well for at least a decade.

Dumol 2012 Chardonnay Chloe

2012 Chardonnay Chloe

96 Points – Robert Parker

There are 1,020 cases of the 2012 Chardonnay Chloe (14.2% natural alcohol) which is sourced from the Ritchie Vineyard and represents the oldest vines, having been planted in 1972. It sees about 45% new French oak but you would never know that based on the sensational richness, texture and flavor profiles where the oak plays a minor role. Copious notes of white peach, apricot marmalade, honeysuckle, brioche and subtle hazelnuts jump from the glass of this beauty. Good acidity buttresses the wine’s broad, powerful mouthfeel, providing freshness as well as delineation. It should drink well for a decade or more.

Dumol 2008 Chardonnay Chloe

2008 Chardonnay Chloe

95 Points – Robert Parker

My favorite 2008 DuMol white is the 2008 Chardonnay Chloe, which comes primarily from the Ritchie Vineyard’s 36-year old parcel planted with the old Wente clone. A big, extroverted perfume of orange rinds, citrus oil, lychee nuts, quince and white currants intermingled with a hint of crushed rocks soars from the glass of this dry, full-bodied Chardonnay. With exuberant fruit intensity, a structured mouthfeel and amazing length, it should drink well for a decade or more.

94 Points - Antonio Galloni

The 2010 Pinot Noir Aidan Wildrose Vineyard is a model of elegance, restraint and polish. Roses, violets and flowers of all sorts lead to expressive red berries. There is a weightless, lifted quality to the 2010 that is unbelievably appealing. A vivid, utterly haunting wine, the 2010 is firing on all cylinders today. An intriguing interplay of savory and saline nuances lingers on the finish, while the 25% whole clusters are beautifully integrated throughout. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.

2012 Syrah Eddies Patch

2012 Syrah Eddies Patch

95 Points - Robert Parker

The 2012 Syrah Eddie’s Patch (a 410-case, 100% Syrah aged 18 months in 40% new French oak hogsheads) comes from 16-year-old Syrah vines. Aromas of bouquet garni, roasted meats, blackberries and blackcurrants soar from the glass of this blue/black-colored Syrah. Full-bodied with olive tapenade notes, sweet tannin and an expansive, multilayered mouthfeel, this fabulous Syrah should be drunk over the next 12-15+ years.

95 Points – Antonio Galloni

Darker tonalities of fruit emerge from the 2012 Syrah Eddie's Patch Hoppe-Kelly Vineyard. Deep and powerful, the 2012 presents a brooding, intense expression of Syrah, with plenty of dark red and blue fruit overtones. I imagine the 2012 will provide readers with a long, broad drinking window of pure pleasure.

2010 Syrah Eddies Patch

2010 Syrah Eddies Patch

96 Points - Robert Parker

The 2010 Syrah Eddie’s Patch represents great Syrah. Aged 17 months on its lees in 43% new French oak, this inky/purple-colored Syrah offers a big, sweet kiss of charcoal, truffle, blackberries, licorice, roasted meats and bouquet garni. The blackberry component continues on the palate of this full-bodied, superbly textured, rich, savory Syrah. Drink this mouthfilling 2010 over the next decade or more.

95 Points – Antonio Galloni

DuMol's 2010 Syrah Eddie's Patch Hoppe-Kelly Vineyard is beautifully centered. Savory herbs, licorice, graphite, menthol, blackberries all jump from the glass. Vibrant and totally alive, the 2010 stands out for its focus and sheer verve. Another year or two in bottle should only help the 2010 show even better. Layers of fruit build to the explosive, intense finish. Simply put, this is dazzling juice. Wow!
