Paul believes that true artisanal winemaking is based on intuition, sensitivity and passion and he works with small, independent growers across California to crafts single vineyard wine that express the uniqueness of each plot. Paul has always had a passion for the fine wines of Burgundy and originally endeavoured to re-create Burgundian flavours in his Pinot Noirs. He admits that this took some years of evolution as a winemaker to realise that would not be possible and more importantly, was not necessary and through gaining an intimate understanding of the climate, geography and culture of California he set his goals towards creating distinctly Californian wines and providing the very best that California has to offer. Pauls wine have won much critical acclaim, Robert Parker calling him “one of the up-and-coming superstars of California”.
