92 Points - Robert Parker

Reminiscent of a French Pauillac, the 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve offers up aromas of cedar, vanilla, melted licorice, black currants, and tobacco leaf. Full-bodied, rich, concentrated, expansive, deep, and impressively structured, this opaque ruby/purple-colored, young, primary 2000 promises to hit its stride in 3-4 years, and last for 15+. It is a very impressive Australian Cabernet Sauvignon.

17 Points - Jancis Robinson

Interesting nose that is much more than mere fruit – very slightly cheesey, I have to admit, but at least interesting. Quite a fresh start – that is obviously cassis. Round tannins and the acidity is not too jagged. Well done.

Region

Situated in the Limestone Coast zine of South Australia, the Coonawarra wine region is synonymous with Cabernet Sauvignon; so much so that success with other grape varieties is often overlooked. It is relatively new to wine-making - from 1890 to 1945 most of the wine was distilled into brandy - but today the famous terra rossa (or red soils) on which all the early vineyards were planted produce predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon wines, full of plum and blackcurrant fruit.
