This classic Shiraz from McLaren vale is deep cherry-red in colour, exhibiting lovely menthol and spice aromas with ripe, spicy plum fruit, and a hint of chocolate. An inviting palate with rich, ripe, dark fruit flavours and refreshing monty overtones. The fruit characters are plum and raspberry with a fine nutty oak finish. While smooth and velvety on the palate, the wine is rich and full-flavoured. Great for drinking with peppered steak.
Superb lifted nose, with top notes of vanilla, dark chocolate and spice, followed by a black pepper end note. Powerful, mouthfilling flavour, liquorice, spice, black pepper explode and persist very long onto the aftertaste. Firmish, but dry tannins, followed by a strong mocha and black pepper aftertaste.
McLaren Vale is situated south of The Barossa Valley in South Eastern Australia. The local climates vary enormously according to altitude and exposure to the cooling sea breezes. Red grapes flourish here due to the warm climate and varied soil type and the region is best known for soft and juicy Shiraz, old-vine Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The climate is similar to that of the Mediterranean climate with four clear seasons. We can highly recommend the producers Kay Brothers, Clarendon Hills and Shirvington Estate from whom we have some fantastic wines.
