98 Points - Stuart McCloskey “ ‘What’s the difference?’ I hear you say. Actually, and if you take the time, rather a lot. However, in a sniff test, I would love to see the Fire Gully served blind alongside the Pierro as the similarities are aligned, or are they? The immediate citrus impact and taut freshness brings the two wines together however, and with a little of one’s own poise, the Pierro provides multiple layers of depth which its sibling lacks. Each note is ramped-up – from the lemon (more confit than citrus), I detect sage, ripe pear, camomile, there’s a profusion of white flowers, the minerals feel charged and deep set. Citrus falls to a savouriness – the aromatics linger for minutes. This is a very beautiful Chardonnay and world-class… The palate exudes a gracefulness – the texture and mouthfeel is like silk. Again, confit lemon, quartz, slate, a little splash of saline with white pepper after a minute. Despite its finesse, the flavour builds rather than falls away. This is extraordinary. This has a personality all of its own. You can tell the winemakers all help to shape the wine along with the Margaret River terroir. Wonderful energy albeit at its own pace – this isn’t rushing for anybody. Effortless and beguiling and one of the best 2019 Margaret River Chardonnays on the market. Do not overchill. Decant for 30-minutes. Served using Zalto Burgundy glassware. Drink now to 2031+.”

96 Points Gary Walsh, The Wine Front "For those who got it right, it seems 2019 was a very good vintage in Margaret River for Chardonnay. Pierro got it right.

Beautiful concentration and intensity. It’s slippery and glossy, but has delicious fine acid cutting through. I’m thinking lime and pear, nougat, and cougar-like poise and power. Sage and butter, pink grapefruit and spice. Finish is long and tight and offers gentle grip as it goes. Welcome to the pleasure zone. You have country and western here. Great Chardonnay."

17+ Points - Jancis Robinson "Very struck-match reduction on the nose. Then pure, saline, super-minerally palate entry with smoky passion-fruit flavours and medium body. Nothing remotely exaggerated here. Great chiselled, pristine Chardonnay. Already accessible in April 2021, I'd say. Persistent."
