Quilceda Creek Winery

Quilceda Creek, named by Robert Parker as Washington States premier Cabernet producer was founded in 1978 and consists of five vineyards that have created a string of 100 point scoring Cabernet Sauvignons. Their top vineyard, Champoux is located in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA in the south central part of Washington State and is responsible for producing five of the 100 point wines. Galitzine Vineyard which is in a small AVA region named Red Mountain and produces grapes for their vineyard designated wine. Lake Wallula vineyard is also found in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA and sits on a plateau, 50 feet above the Columbia River which helps to moderate the temperature, it’s lower altitude making it one of the warmest vineyards sites in Washington State. Palengat vineyard is a tiny 8.5 acre plot found at an altitude of 700-800 feet above sea level and the Wallula vineyard is a steep, south facing vineyard that has become one of the most sought after in the states. At 1120 feet above sea level, the sites south facing aspect ensure maximum sun exposure whilst the altitude and constant airflow keep the temperatures moderate resulting in an extended hang time during the Autumn allowing for perfectly ripe grapes.
