96 Points - James Halliday "One-third fermented and aged for 10 months in new 500l French puncheons, remaining on lees during maturation. The extra year in bottle has created a wine of spectacular flavours and complexity, green apple and gently spicy oak all dance around the mouth. This will go on its merry way for several few years yet."
François Cotat produces age worthy and complex Sancerre from his tiny 3 hectare estate at the heart of the prized Chavignol commune which lies on Kimmeridgian clay and Caillotte soils. Cotat wines are harvested by hand and very late, as pushing ripeness to the extreme is one element that gives these wines their weighty texture and complexity. While Cotat is not organically certified, his habits are according to organic principles. He does not treat his vines with pesticides; uses only indigenous yeasts for fermentation; and follows the lunar cycle for racking.
Robert Parker.com wrote “I shook my head in wonderment as to why so few Sancerre producers made wines such as these…” The answer is simple; Cotat produces the most singular style of Sancerre which is difficult to replicate. Devotees declare them as one-part winemaking to three parts magic… Buy now and put them away for at least 5 years.

James Suckling "The acidity in this really gives verve and intensity to the wine. Lemon and salt character already. Full yet vivid. Exciting. Great value. Drink or hold."
Light yellow colour with pale green tints. Intense and complex nose of exotic white fruits and citrus fruit mixed with floral notes of linden and acacia. The palate is rich, generous, ample and intensely fruity, with very good tension. The Sauvignon Blanc lemon juice delicately coats the exotic sweetness (lychee, mango) of the well-ripe Semillon. Mineral notes bringing good salinity added to this cocktail, to serve a beautiful finish. Concentration of white fruits, mineral freshness and righteousness.
Winemaker "Lune d’Argent is the heart of Clos des Lunes’ production. We firmly believe in the future of this legendary terroir and its truly original style. With a touch of French oak, the Sémillon is dense and rich, the Sauvignon Blanc refined and precise. This cuvée of dry white wine promises to convey all the magic of Sauternes."
