The Vinorium Team Expands

We are delighted to introduce two new members to The Vinorium team. Jody (formerly transforming HMPS administration is perfect for keeping us in-check)  & Natalie (a former buyer for Harrods & Harvey Nichols offers an interesting insight to the world of super-premuim retail).

The both bring a wealth of experience and diversity to our new client services and logistics team.

Penfolds 2017 Collection

This year marked our first collaboration with Penfolds, which went down a treat with some of our private clients. Sadly, we only received a modest allocation of 620 cases (7440 bottles), which sold-out to pre-orders on the morning of Thursday 19 October. We are hoping to receive a little more over the coming months. We will keep you posted.

We do have Penfolds controversial g3 to offer at £1,200 IB per bottle if you would like a little?

Domaine Bila Haut

“The top single parcel bottles of RI and VIT are made in tiny quantities, but these are up with the finest wines coming from the south of France. In short, these are fabulous wines that show classic characters and represent incredible values.
Don’t miss them”.

Jeb Dunnuck

Michel Chapoutier needs little introduction as one of the greatest winemakers in the Rhone however, few know of Domaine Bila-Haut, Michel’s Roussillon property which he purchased in 2000. He purchased land in the village of Latour de France, known for its stony soil terraces and rich geological background. Here, incredibly old vines with low yields deliver minerality and complexity for Carignan, Grenache
and Syrah.

Hand-harvested grapes reveal a well-structured, warm wine very much in the spirit of the Roussillon. Today, these wines have gained serious recognition and several of Michel’s recent vintages have received scores of 97-100 from Jeb Dunnuck. We have cherry-picked some absolute gems from Michel’s Sélections Parcellaires…

Almost Two Years since our last allocation of Gaja’s Iconic Chardonnay

Rossj-Bass Chardonnay 2016

Gaja is one of the stars of the world wine scene, a producer that is widely credited with transforming not just the image and international reputation of its native Piedmont region, but of Italy as a whole. It has had a significant impact on the way that Italian wine is grown, made, priced, distributed and marketed. Angelo Gaja is often credited with initiating the winery's success, as well as being regarded as one of Italy's leading modernizers.

Unconventionally, he begun planting French varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

He has also incorporated various techniques that were initially more typical of Bordeaux or California than Piedmont, but in other respects he has perpetuated tradition. Gaja is one of a handful of artisan wineries in the world, which can compete with the top names of Burgundy and Bordeaux.

'Gaja is one of a handful of artisan wineries in the world, which can compete with the top names of Burgundy and Bordeaux.'

One of our favourite wines, the Rossj-Bass is an alluring blend of Chardonnay with a soupçon of Sauvignon Blanc. Rossj-Bass is named after Angelo’s youngest daughter Rossana and it is derived from vineyards in Barbaresco and Serralunga. It is magnificently pure, aromatic and elegant. On the palate, it offers a sumptuous bouquet of citrus fruits and white flowers with the smallest hint of honey. There is tremendous depth, a refreshing mineral core and lingering finish. The wine is textured, rich without being overt. Delicious on release, although patience will be generously rewarded.

Taittinger Prelude

Our Annual Taittinger Special is Back @ £34.50
Alas, only 48 bottles are being offered...

Prélude Grands Crus Cuvée is composed of Chardonnay (50%) and Pinot Noir (50%) and only selected from their top Grands Crus vineyards. Produced only using first press wines, this beautiful blend offers the finesse and structure that a great wine needs if it is to be laid down for any length of time. On the palate, this wine strikes the perfect balance of the instantly minerally Chardonnay and the strongly expressive Pinot Noir. Aged for more than five years in the cellar, the Prélude cuvée is unique for its remarkable youth and great wealth of flavours.

17 Points - JancisRobinson.com

“Very pale gold. Showing substantially more development and breadth than the other NV Taittingers tasted alongside. Little bit of pineapple and brioche. Rich and broad of beam, like an apple pie with a charge of electric acidity leaving a tingle on the tongue. Fine, yet there is satisfying density and depth. Less aperitif and perhaps more of a match for a sliver of Comté”.

New Arrivals from the
Margaret River

There are some good Rosé wines on the market and then there is Deep Woods Rosé, which is consistently Australia’s finest. Both the 2015 & 2016 vintages have received 96 points from James Halliday and every conceivable domestic trophy imaginable. The 2017 vintage (for rosé) was undoubtedly the best in Deep Woods Estate’s history, which is very exciting prospect. Whist we wait for Mr Halliday's scores, the Harmony Rosé has already won its first gold at Perth Royal Wine Show.

Both wines are blended with varying percentages of Tempranillo and Shiraz with a small proportion of Grenache to produce two wines of great character, delicacy and complexity...

The 2017 Estate Rose is offered exclusively by The Vinorium and will not be available outside of Australia.

UPS

You may recall our communique regarding trialling UPS throughout the month October. This was a difficult decision to make as their increased charges were significant.

Unfortunately, and after only two weeks, we have stopped using their service as, and to put bluntly, their service was below our standards and certainly did not justify their lofty charges.

Consequently, we have returned to UK Mail but have been assured of a better service.

Thank you all very much for taking the time to provide your feedback…

Natalie and I will be communicating shortly regarding our Christmas (both domestic and International) delivery schedules. - Jody
