2004 Standish The Relic
Shiraz Viognier Magnum. Only 240 produced

Only One Left...

99 Points - Robert Parker "More exotic and flamboyant than the Shiraz, but equally profound is the 2004 Shiraz/Viognier The Relic (93% and 7% respectively, cropped at .5 tons of fruit per acre, and aged 20 months in old French oak). An inky/purple-colored, powerful, full-bodied, rich red, it possesses a huge, sweet nose of blue and black fruits, flowers, and subtle oak, a blockbuster mid-section, and an amazingly long finish. "

2006 Standish The Standish Shiraz

95 Points - Jay Miller (erobertparker.com) "The 2006 Shiraz was sourced from a single parcel of 98 year old vines yielding a minuscule 0.5 tons of fruit per acre. It was aged for 36 months in seasoned French oak. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it offers up a superb, room-filling bouquet of cigar box, baking spices, smoked meat, lavender, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. On the palate this harmonious, velvety-textured effort is voluptuous, full-flavored, succulent, and exceptionally long. It has enough structure to evolve for 4-6 years but will be hard to resist early on. Its prime drinking window will extend from 2014 to 2026. "

Flowstone Queen of the Earth
Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 Magnum

97 Points - James Halliday

From a dry-grown Wilyabrup vineyard planted late '70s, hand-picked, open-fermented, 17 days on skins, matured in used French oak for 3 years. Excellent colour; a suave Margaret River cabernet with all its bolshie cabernet tannins now in the role they will play long term; the bouquet has some elusive violets, the mouthfeel and overall structure picture perfect, the flavours of cassis and bay leaf enough to melt a pinot lover's heart.

From a dry grown vineyard in Wilyabrup, planted in the late '70s. Hand-picked, open fermented for 17 days then heads to French oak barriques for 3 years, and once bottled allowed to relax for 15 months. What a wine. Complex yet refined with florals, cassis and warm earth, full-bodied but long and pure with svelte tannins. Only 92 dozen made.

96 Points - Robert Parker "An exotic bouquet of blackberries and other sweet fruits is followed by a full-bodied, powerful, rich red with great purity as well as focus, a laser-like precision, huge intensity, and a blockbuster finish that lasts nearly a minute. It will be even better with 2-3 more years of bottle age, and should last for two decades."

Two Hands Two Worlds

The Two Worlds project is an amazing collaboration of Bob Egelhoff’s Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa) and Michael Twelftree’s famed Two Hands Barossa Valley Shiraz. Michael flies over a bladder full of his very best Shiraz and Bob puts together the final blend. Production is minuscule with 480 etched Magnums produced each year. Few critics have had the pleasure to sample this rare gem however, it has garnered the No. 2 spot in the Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2010.

Hobbs of Barossa Ranges Gregor
Shiraz 2005 Magnum

95 Points - Jay Miller (erobertparker.com)

The 2004 Shiraz “Gregor” was sourced from a younger vineyard and includes some partially dried fruit in the style of Amarone. The wine spent 2 years in new French oak hogsheads. It is more deeply colored than its sibling and has a liqueur/port-like character to its aromas and flavors. Powerful, rich, and layered.

Gibson Old Vine Collection

2008 Shirvington Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

Composed of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Shiraz, the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon was 100% barrel fermented and aged for 12 months in 60% new oak and 40% one-year-old oak, with 55% American and 45% French barrels. It presents a deep garnet color and aromas of black currant cordial, black cherry preserves and dried plums over spice box, cloves, pencil lead, toast plus a whiff of lavender. Very full bodied and richly fruited in the mouth, the generosity of spicy berry flavors is well supported by a medium to firm level of very finely grained tannins and very crisp acid, finishing long and layered. Drinking nicely now, it should cellar to 2019+.

2007 Shirvington Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Magnum

Shirvington’s 2007 Shiraz spent 14 months in 80% new, mostly American oak. It displays an excellent nose of cigar box, lavender, cocoa, black cherry, and blueberry. This leads to a full-bodied, dense, structured Shiraz which comes off as just a bit sinewy. Aside from that, it has plenty of savory fruit, good balance, and a lengthy finish. It will require 3-4 years of additional cellaring and should be in full bloom from 2013 to 2027.

Auntsfield Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2016 Magnum

Those eagle eyed Decanter readers may have spotted the unprecedented score for a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc (August 2017 Edition).

The Marlborough producer, Auntsfield has been awarded a colossal 98 points for their 2016 single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, the same score awarded by Decanter for the 2016 Bordeaux En-Primeurs – Chateaux Mouton Rothschild, Pichon Lalande & Figeac...

98 Points - Cameron Douglas MW (Decanter.com) "Classic mix of fresh and dried herbs, fine citrus and tropical passion fruit and peach hints. Encapsulates what's at the heart of Marlborough's Sauvignon Blanc message - energy, precise attack and flavours that last. Classic."

98 Points - Bob Campbell  "Weighty, quite intense red capsicum, gooseberry and nectarine flavours, also showing impressive purity and length. Rich and flavoursome with typical weight and concentration for a wine from this clay-rich-sub-region. Tropical fruit, passion fruit, guava and apricot flavours plus a seasoning of brioche.
It's quite a mouthful."

2016 Clos des Lunes Lune d’Argent
Double Magnum

(Individually numbered: 81-97 of 100)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2016 Lune d'Argent is a blend of 70% Sémillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc. It has a simple pear and beeswax-scented bouquet that demanded some coaxing from the glass. The palate is well balanced, but to me does not quite possess the complexity and bite of the 2015 Lune d'Argent. It has satisfying freshness.;2018 - 2022

Schubert Estate is situated in one of the prime spots in the Barossa Valley, Roennfeldt Road, made famous by the Greenock Creek winery. The 2005 Shiraz “Goose-Yard Block” was aged in a mix of new and used French oak for 12-15 months. Opaque purple-colored, it exhibits a fragrant bouquet of pain grille, pepper, crushed rock, tar, licorice, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. 2004 Torbreck The Factor Imperial OWC

Our Last One...

Signed by David Powell & Hand Numbered

97 Points - Jay Miller (erobertparker.com)

Made from 100% Shiraz that spent 24 months in French oak (30% new), the exuberant, flamboyant 2004 The Factor offers up gorgeously pure blueberry and blackberry fruit intermixed with smoke, bacon fat, camphor, and graphite. Silky smooth, and, as David Powell says, “the most Barossa-like” of all his wines, it represents Powell’s rendition of a Cote Rotie.

Opaque purple-coloured, it delivers an expressive bouquet of pepper, smoke, espresso roast, blackberry, blueberry, and liquorice. Full-bodied and voluptuous on the palate, nuances of saddle leather and mineral emerge to complement the layers of spicy blue and black fruits. The wine is beautifully integrated with enough well-concealed tannin to keep this wine evolving for a decade. The last bottles left in the World...
2006 Torbreck The Pict OWC

Signed by David Powell & Hand Numbered

The 2006 The Pict is 100% Mataro (Mourvedre) aged in 100% new French oak for 24 months. The fruit was sourced from one section of a vineyard planted in 1927. Purple-colored, it offers up an aromatic array of smoky oak, forest floor, black truffle, blueberry, and blackberry jam. On the palate it reveals a brawny, masculine personality with some austerity that should round out with a few years of additional bottle age. It should offer prime drinking from 2013 to 2026.

Made from tiny yields of 1.5 to 1.8 tons of fruit per acre, aged in 50% new and 50% 1 and 2 year old oak (half American and half French) barrels, it is a huge, rich, backward Shiraz that still assaults the palate

The brilliant 2004 Les Amis (100% Grenache aged 18 months in new oak) is fashioned from a vineyard planted in 1903. Yields were a minuscule 14 hl/ha (about 1 ton per acre). 2005 Torbreck Run Rig Double Magnum

Only two available - Signed by David Powell & numbered 45 & 72/80

98+ Points - Jay Miller (erobertparker.com)

Torbreck’s flagship is the 2005 Run Rig, a 97% Shiraz cuvee sourced from 120- to 160-year-old vines with 3% finished Viognier added before bottling. It spent 30 months in 60% new French oak. Opaque purple/black in color, it has a kinky, exotic bouquet of fresh road tar, smoke, lavender, black pepper, game, blueberry, and black raspberry. Full-bodied and opulent on the palate, the wine is dense, packed, and unevolved. It will continue to open up over the next 10-12 years and drink well through 2040 in the style of a Chapoutier Hermitage. Viñedos del Contino Rioja Gran
Reserva 2005 Magnum

95 Points - Wine Advocate

The 2005 Gran Reserva is produced with over 60-year-old Tempranillo grapes fermented in cement vats. The wine rested in bottle for a minimum of three years before being released. Only 2,700 magnums (and a bunch of bigger bottles) were produced. It is open and expressive, very spicy, with developed notes of blond tobacco, leather and very fresh fruit (more red than black). It has juicy fruit and a very round texture, a serious wine that should develop slowly.
