Loire Valley Wines

At 1000 km the Loire is the longest river valley in France, meandering through varied terrain that is reflected in the region's broad range of wine styles. At 70,000 hectares it is France's 4th largest area under vine and includes several French wine regions including Muscadet, Sancerre, Pouilly Fumé and Vouvray to name just a few. The predominant grape varieties in the Loire Valley are Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc for white wines and Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc for reds and rosé's. Some of the most notable producers include Domaine des Baumard, Domaine Didier Dagueneau, François Cotat and Joseph Mellot to name a few.
