93 Points - Luis Gutierrz (erobertparker.com) "The 2012 Aluvional Vista Flores is produced with Malbec grapes from Vista Flores, in the Tunuyan department of the Uco Valley, from a vineyard at 1,100 meters altitude. It opens with opulent aromas of wild herbs and violets, very showy and elegant, and has a medium-bodied palate with extremely polished, glossy tannins and a sweet texture. It is fluid and very drinkable. "

Zalto Denk-Art Universal Glass

For richer, oaked Sauvignon Blancs such as The Fuder, white Graves or Semillon/Sauvignon blends. For young and non-vintage Champagne we recommend Zalto Universal. However, the Zalto Universal is a very good all-rounder, designed for all types of wines but may not maximize the potential of certain wine as much as the Bordeaux or Burgundy glass.

Familia Zuccardi

Producer

It was Alberto Zuccardi who planted the first acre of vines in Maipú, Mendoza back in 1963. He may not have known it back then but Zuccardi Wines are now one of the most important names within the Argentinian winemaking industry. Now in the hands of the third generation of the Zuccardi family, it is Albertos grandson Sebastian Zuccardi who is in charge of the running of the winery and with his hard work ethic and dedication which he learnt fro his father Joseph he is pushing boundaries in creating wine of the highest standard. Positioned at the foot of the Andes, Zuccardi benefit from the combination of temperature ranges which create multiple terroirs, expressed through their wines by the skillfull hand of Sebastian who was voted ‘first of the top 10 winemakers in South America’ by Decanter magazine in 2017.

Region

Mendoza was the first wine growing area in Latin America and today is still one of the largest in the world, with over 75% of Argentine wine coming from this region. It is a vast and extremely varied region and the key to producing seriously high quality wines this close to the equator is altitude – the higher the vineyard the cooler the nights and it is this which is hugely beneficial to acidity and colour as well as achieving specific wine flavours. Malbec is the most influential grape planted here, however local varieties such as Criolla Grande and Cereza account for over a quarter of the plantings across the vineyards. After Malbec, the next most important grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Chardonnay. These varieties do well here, in the semi-desert conditions. Mendoza has four distinct seasons but due to the soil conditions mixed with the warm summers, it must be irrigated.
