Another tour de force, the 2015 Syrah John Lewis offers more lavender, violets, and minerality, as well as incredible black and blue fruits. This peppery, meaty, rich, full-bodied effort has building tannin, awesome purity, and integrated acidity, and it's certainly one of the finest Syrahs in the vintage. It's more tannic than the Lagniappe Cuvée and is going to benefit from short-term cellaring, with two decades of overall longevity. Bravo! This vintage comes from a single block in the Les Collines Vineyard, in Walla Walla, isn’t destemmed, and spends 19 months in 7% new French oak puncheons.

Zalto Bordeaux glass is recommended for weightier style reds, probably our most widely used glass when tasting in house, this glass is great for many different wines. The large bowl helping aerate and soften tannins whilst accentuating the wines depth and concentration. The Bordeaux glass is the ideal choice for Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Zinfandel, Bordeaux or Rhone style blends and many other red wines. Surprisingly, it is also the glass of choice for oaked Chardonnay as well, the shape of the bowl accentuating the balance of ripe fruits and oak.

Founded in 2005 by Master Sommelier Greg Harrington and his wife Pam, Gramercy Cellars (based in Washingon, USA) has very strong influences from Bordeaux and the Rhône in both their approach to wine making and the varietals used. The idea behind Gramercy was to create a winery that was ‘focused on quality, integrity, and sustainability.’
Greg Harrington is one of the very few 130 people in the USA to pass his Master Sommelier Exams and was named ‘Best New Winemaker in Washington’ by Seattle Magazine in 2008 with Gramercy taking the title of ‘Best New Winery’.
Gramercy has also won a number of other awards including ‘Best New Winery in America’ by Food & Wine Magazine in 2010 and has been listed by Wine & Spirits Magazine as one of the “Top 100 Wineries in the World” in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Situated in the Northwest of the USA, Washington is known as the 2nd largest premium wine producer in the United States after California, with over 900 wineries located across the state. The region produces great quality wines from a range of grape varieties and is planted with almost exactly a 50/50 split of red and white grapes. The most common are Riesling and Chardonnay for the whites and Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah for the reds. Being slightly further inland, Washington’s conditions are perfect for Cabernet Sauvignon that produces incredible dense and powerful wines either as a single variety or as a Bordeaux style blend. The majority of wine production is based on the eastern side, the region being separated by the Cascade Mountains which give protection from the Pacific weather from the west creating a rain shadow on the eastern side of the region. This create dry almost dessert like conditions, temperatures moderated by the influence from rivers running from the mountains. Washington’s reputation is that of quality, with some iconic producers and wines that rival many of the best found in California. Quilceda Creek are one such producer who create very long-lived, powerful Cabernet Sauvignon, their 2015 vintage scoring 99 points. Gramercy Cellars are also a producer with a great reputation for producing outstanding Cabernet led wines as well as creating outstanding examples from Rhone varieties.
