     The story began in 1974, when the founder, David Anderson planted the first vines in order to craft wines which would be loved and shared amongst friends and family. Until this day, David personally delivers his wines along the East coast, from Melbourne to Newcastle, to his friends, family and all customers who have consequently become friends. It does not matter that his red van has seen better days - the loyalty that this trip inspires should not be undervalued. By far, more Wild Duck Creek Estate wine is sold directly at the winery than through any other means and this is despite Robert Parker putting the winery in a world spotlight. It was the 1997 Duck Muck that caused such a stir by scaling the heights and achieving a score of 99/100. A rare event for a winery of this size (a one-man band at the time and still family operated today) and one that immediately delivered a certain amount of fanaticism as the wines sold as rapidly as prices escalated. Almost overnight, a bottle of Duck Muck could only be bought in the United States for hundreds of dollars. This event shot a relatively unknown small winery into the limelight. While David carefully watched the price of his iconic wine rocket overnight, he remained pragmatic that his loyal customers should always come first and his wines should not be out of reach. Today, this has not changed. We are chuffed to be amongst the loyal circle – Wild Duck Creek wines are one of a handful which we cherish and have cellared carefully since the early days of The Vinorium. The authenticity and individuality of these wines is beguiling and reveals a truly unique character of this, perhaps unexplored in the UK, region of Heathcote.  Wild Duck Creek Estate’s flagship wine, expressing the fruit driven richness for which the Heathcote region is famous. Often described by Robert Parker as "blockbuster wine that pushes concentration to the limit”, Springflat Shiraz rewards long cellaring which allows it to reveal all its complexities. Although our vintages of 2004, 2005 and 2006 would normally classify as mature, these wines are only just entering their drinking window and we envisage a long bright future lasting for at least another decade.

The only other world stockist offers the 2004 Duck Muck at £300.00. 96+ Points - Robert Parker "A wine of extraordinary intensity, richness, and extract (yields were .5 tons of fruit per acre), the 2004 Shiraz Duck Muck is a totally dry red that tips the scales at 17.5% alcohol (*in fact, alcohol is 16.5%). While it pushes the limits of civilized drinking, it is neither pruny nor hot, and should be tasted with an open mind and no hidden agenda (not as easy as one might expect, especially for Eurocentric palates). Inky/purple to the rim with a glorious perfume of crushed rocks, acacia flowers, blueberries, blackberries, creosote, and vanilla, it was aged in 100% new, heavily toasted French and American barrels for two years prior to bottling. It is nearly off the charts in terms of richness and extract. Although not for everybody, for those who are not reactionary in their tastes, it is an amazing wine that will be fascinating to follow over the next two decades."  Many factors come into making Reserve Shiraz - longer maceration, hand plunging the skins four times a day, using whole bunch ferments for complexity of aroma and texture and extended barrel aging. It is a very special wine - highly seductive and intense. This wine is one of the most hedonistic expressions of Australian Shiraz on our shelves, consistently high scoring and achieving heights of 97 points which is almost on par with the iconic Duck Muck for a fraction of the price. In the outstanding 2005, David took a pragmatic decision to bottle all of his best fruit in the Reserve Shiraz, as Duck Muck would simply become out of reach, which would go against his strong belief that his loyal customers should always come first.  An exceptionally rare wine, the Alan’s Cabernet Pressings has immense concentration and structure. This wine is created by saving the final juice from squeezing the skins after fermentation. The harder the skins are pressed, the more flavours and tannins are extracted. The wine often drips into a bucket overnight.
