96 Points - Stuart McCloskey “Geelong is a great place to nurture Pinot Gris. This is a very fine, cooling example that provides bags of texture, abundant flavour and a fabulous perfume (not necessarily in that order!). The bouquet unfurls at a gentle pace to pear, sweet spice, heady floral notes, a sweeping of vanilla, honeycomb (slightly burnt sugar, if you get my drift), nougat and peach syrup. The texture is a dreamboat of silk – a slick of oiliness which just adds to the textural pleasure. It’s refined, graceful and demonstrates how good Aussie Pinot Gris can be. The palate provides spiced orchard fruits, warming ginger along with a lick of salty minerals. The finish is wonderfully long, tactile, spicy and the acidity keeps the package alive. Delightful wine and tremendous value. Great aperitif and will please all lovers of Riesling, Chardonnay and those who love wines with gloss and sheen. Faultless, in my opinion. A ‘dry’ example – not sweet, despite my flavour profile. Served using Zalto Bordeaux glassware (Universal will be fine). Drink now to 2028.”

Winemaker: “A great example of maritime Pinot Gris. A wet winter and cool spring in Geelong set up the growing season and small crops fully ripened with a warm summer, retaining good acidity. Nectarine and apricot immediately wash across the generous and luscious palate. Papaya, ginger and fresh florals sing through and add length and there’s a touch of saltiness on the finish.”

Zalto Denk-Art Universal Glass

Our next delivery of Zalto is expected to arrive Mid-Late April 2022.

Please note that our website will be updated with any delivery notifications and when the stock arrives we will contact you to arrange delivery.

The Zalto Universal glass is recommended for richer, oaked Sauvignon Blancs, white Graves or Semillon/Sauvignon blends as well as young and non-vintage Champagne. The Zalto Universal is a very good 'all-rounder', designed for all types of wine but in our opinion may not maximize the potential of certain wines quite as much as the Bordeaux or Burgundy glass.

Buy wines from Victoria, Australia

Despite being the second smallest state in Australia, Victoria is home to over 600 wineries, more than any other wine-producing state. However, Victoria does not produce the most wine, as rather than producing mass quantities of cheaper wine, its wineries tend to be smaller and more boutique in style. The cool climate here is produced by the coastal areas and this means that a wide range of wines can be made, from stunningly complex Chardonnay and delicate Pinot Noir in the Yarra Valley, to savoury and rich Shiraz from Heathcote and iconic fortified wines from Rutherglen.

Victoria is fast becoming one of our favourite regions with many new producers joining us from here, including Shadowfax, Mulline, and Eastern Peake.
