Stuart McCloskey "I have been told-off for sampling wines too early in the day! When you awake around 5:00am – I am ready for work and wine by 7:00… Moreover, and when you have a bouquet as delectable as this – why bloody wait. I wish I could spread the bouquet onto my morning toast as this reminds me of a rich and heady blueberry compote. Perhaps one of the most mouthwatering bouquets of the year. A little rose, fresh vanilla pod, plum, kirsch and roasted coffee notes make up the delectable aromatics. This provides so much more than its price-point. The palate is juicy and packed with ripe black and blue fruits. Further layers come via graphite, sweet spice, anise, damson and a floral lift. There’s generosity, but it’s not overdone. There’s acidity, but it provides a cleansing / drenching quality rather than a rasp of ugliness (often found in wines around this price level). Most annoyingly, this is much better than my sample bottle and reason why I only shipped 60-bottles. Clearly, I was having a bad day as this is outright delicious. Utterly scrumptious… Drink now to 2030+. Served using Zalto Bordeaux stemware."
