Our First Quarter Highlights
Since the first days of January, packed orders have built-up like towers and covered much of Warehouse No 2 floor space on a daily basis. The number of orders leaving our HQ Warehouse increases day by day, month by month which is wonderful to see. Last year, our best to date, saw e-commerce sales increase by 68% however, these statistics appear tame compared to 2018 with our first quarter online sales increasing by a staggering 51% compared to the same 2017 period.
It does not come as a surprise that the majority of the 43,690 bottles sold to date are Australian as our position as the UK’s foremost specialist is firmly fixed. Bordeaux has seen a resurgence and sales of New World Pinot Noir has increased substantially. We sent off many stunning wines, many no longer available. Various Two Hands wines, once in abundance are sold-out. Countless are on the edge of selling out however, Stu has been very busy working on UK exclusivities with some of Barossa’s leading producers.

96+ Points - Jay Miller (erobertparker.com)
The back strapping 2005 Shiraz “House Block – Rare” is purple/black in color. It reveals aromas of cedar, wood smoke, cassis, blackberry, and blueberry compote. Full-bodied, thick, and rich, this opulent wine is nearly over the top. Intense, powerful, and very long in the finish.

Branson Coach House Greenock Block Shiraz 2005
360 bottles sold last week alone
Jay Miller (erobertparker.com) - The 2005 Shiraz “Greenock Block” is opaque purple-colored with aromas of pain grille, black pepper, scorched earth, blueberry compote, and blackberry liqueur. Intense and layered, this full-bodied effort packs a punch. There are gobs of fruit and plenty of tannin under the surface. This unsubtle but powerful wine can be cellared for several years and will drink well through 2020.

Wild Duck Alan’s Cabernet
Our Last Few Cases
An exceptionally rare wine, the Alan’s Cabernet Pressings originate from the first vineyard planted at the Wild Duck Creek estate in the early 1970’s. Only 150 magnums are bottled each year – David "Duck" Anderson (the founder) in order to stop everyone – customers, friends and family - from drinking them too early. Saving these wines for at least a decade is hugely rewarding.

Our initial allocation of 2015 Blank Canvas Pinot Noir has sold out in a week after its release (the same scenario which happened to our 2014 offer), which comes with no surprise as Bob Campbell MW and New Zealand Specialist ranks the
’15 Blank Canvas #1 of 112 and awards a mightily impressive 97 Points.
A further 120 bottles are heading in our direction with the delivery
expected in the first week of May.
Blank Canvas Pinot Noir 2015
97 Points - Bob Campbell MW
From a low-yielding vineyard in the Waihopai Valley with clay-based soils and 17 year-old vines. 50% whole-bunches in the fermentation. Evocatively perfumed wine with savoury, fresh herb, violet, red rose, cherry and berry flavours supported by classy spicy oak. Dense and seamless with an impressively lengthy finish. Delicious wine.
£25.50 per bottle
Blank Canvas Sauvignon Blanc 2017
Marlborough, NZ
Only 44 bottles in stock
17 Points - Julia Harding MW (jancisrobinson.com)
On the nose this has both the freshness of capsicum and the sweetness of green figs, neither under-nor over-ripe, as well as a light saltiness and a hint of passionfruit. On the palate it is mercifully dry with really good intensity and focus in a difficult vintage. It has both fruit weight and freshness and persistence and a long stony finish.
Mouth-wateringly pure.
