The Padthaway region of Australia is only 62 km long and 8k wide with a wine growing area of only 4000 hectares. The predominant wine varieties planted here are Shiraz, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon with the red varieties making up 50% of the total vineyard plantings. There are also increasing volumes of Merlot, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Pinot Gris wines being produced which show the regions ability to consistently produce quality wines across a broad range of grape varieties. Padthaway’s Chardonnays have earned a reputation based on their clean and pure fruit flavours. Equally high-quality red wines are produced here from grape varieties such as Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec.
